” I will never forget you, Nanny”

This Christmas I sent my grandchildren gifts of new items*–prepackaged gift sets that included easels, paints, brushes, and canvases. They are young but I figure it is time to encourage them to develop their talents and creativity. I was fairly certain that they would like them but their responses flabbergasted me. My oldest grandson who is “going on 9″ said, “I will never forget you Nanny” and I am telling you, that thrilled my heart! And the two year old said, “I painted a picture already” and ” I miss you Nanny, I love you”. My seven yr old grand-daughter said, “I love what you sent me, and I painted already.” The four year old grand-daughter said, “I painted already, a picture for you.” I love those children so much! They are as the Bible says “the apple of my eye” and of course so are my grown children whose names are Jennifer and Leigh. We, my children and I, are very much creative and artistic, and I am certain that such gifts of creativity are from GOD whose very Spirit is life and creativity. Both my daughters had formal art training in Italy, via their Universities, Jennifer in Cortona and Leigh in Florence. I have some formal training and paint much [ you may see some of my paintings at http://gloriapoole.googlepages.com, if you’re interested.]. My oldest daughter Jennifer started a preschool for teaching the principles of studio art to the little ones, and my youngest daughter [Leigh] creates sculptures, and painted a very striking painting while in Italy. My oldest daughter Jennifer, painted a painting that she gave to me, and that hangs in my dwelling, that I love of tea cups. I love it for several reasons: the painting is excellent,I love tea, and I love my daughters, and I love their art. Jennifer’s painting is one of my prized possessions. I also had one of Leigh’s paintings until my then husband [now gone from my life for many reasons] tried to steal it and we had a huge confrontation over it in the drive as he was trying to steal it by taking it and putting it in his car to drive away with, and I was trying to keep it. I had said before that there are some possessions I have that I would fight the devil himself for, and that proved it ! By the power of GOD I held onto it, and then later gave it back to my daughter for her safe-keeping. [ My ex-husband did steal from me after he moved out, and I had started replenishing my supplies that he had stolen before he moved out, stealing about 6-8 of my new brushes that I had bought for me, some of my completed sketches and possibly a painting; but GOD will judge him for that, I am certain. He doesn’t paint but likes to thieve to show how he ‘can pick any lock in the city’ and to provoke, upset me and to restock his supplies or to ‘prove’ that he “controls” the Denver Police whom he said would do nothing about his stealing.

* I know you may think that is an odd thing to write but not so. I have had many years when I had to buy them recycled things at thrift stores and usually they loved those also. They are good to appreciate what I send them. I was absolutely thrilled to have the ability to send them new gifts, and bought them with joy in my heart and thanksgiving to GOD that I could afford them!
